Easy Computer Fix: Disk Clean Up

One of the easiest fixes for slow running computers is using a built in tool called "Disk Clean Up". You can find this tool by going to "start" lower left of the screen, or if you are using Windows 7, just click the Windows logo in the lower left of your screen. Then click on all programs. After that look for "Accessories", once you have clicked on that you will want to look for and click on "System Tools". After you have clicked on that you will see the "Disk Clean Up" tool. Click on it.

This will open a different box on your screen. On windows 7 it will automatically scan your hard drive, in all other versions you will have to choose which drive you want to clean up. In most cases you will want to click on the C: drive. Once it has scanned the drive to see how much space you can save it will give you list of different places where you can delete files and save space. Most of the options listed can be cleaned up and all files in them can be deleted with out any worries that something will be deleted that shouldn't be. So go ahead and scroll through the list checking each box as you scroll down.

Once you have done this you will just need to click "OK" at the bottom of the screen. One more screen will pop up and ask you if you are sure you want to delete those files. Go ahead and hit ok. Once you click it, the disk clean up tool will start deleting all files in all those different locations. Once the tool is complete, simply close the window. Doing this about once a week will help keep your computer running smoothly.
